Carolyn Marie Smith Kight Cobb, 84, of Metter, entered through the gates of heaven into her eternal rest and reward on March 26, 2024. She was the fifth of seven children born to Adelbert Carl and Gracie Tuten Smith in Coffee, Georgia, on September 2, 1939.
She spent her early childhood in small towns, like Guyton, Georgia, before her family moved to Savannah. After much struggling to get there, she graduated from Commercial High School in 1957 and one year later married. She became a wife and mother and sent her husband to work each morning with a homemade lunch and had a hot meal ready when he returned in the evening. She made sure her daughters were taught to worship God in church. She knew that she should train up her children according to God’s word and she would always have His promise to hold on to. Many times, she stood on God’s promises and held to her faith when the very lives of her children were endangered.
After outliving three husbands, her mind became tangled up in a battle for herself against Alzheimer’s Disease, that lasted about fifteen years, which she was finally freed from at her passing. She never forgot Jesus and was able to sing every word to the hymns that she had learned many years ago as recently as Christmas.
Now, with clarity of mind and wholeness of spirit, she enjoys eternal life with those loved ones that predeceased her. In addition to her parents, are husbands Henry Smith, Vernie Kight, and Corbet Cobb; one child miscarried before birth; sisters, Naomi Smith Richards, Elvie Smith Bowers and Linda Smith Leonard; brothers, Robert Smith and Billy Smith; as well as extended family members and friends she loved like family.
Surviving and missing her already, are daughters, Cindy Woods, Kim Gosyne, and Stephanie Knaust (James); grandsons, Adam Dalgard (Leigh Anne), Zachary Dalgard (Crystal), James Knaust Jr., and Joshua Gosyne; great-grandchildren, Parker Dalgard, Chloe Dalgard, Levi Dalgard, Hudson Dalgard, Jozy Dalgard, and Henry Dalgard; one brother, Andy Smith (Joan) and numerous nieces and nephews.
Wood Funeral Home of Metter is in charge of arrangements.
