Clara Mae Mathis Hackle 89, of Metter, passed away June 10, 2022 at home under the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice. Clara was born on June 30, 1932, to Mr. Willie McDonald Mathis and Katie Bell Fortner Mathis, in Kite Georgia. Clara was a member of Cedar Street Baptist Church, and loved her church dearly. Clara loved to make quilts and gave all the newborn babies one.

Clara was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Paul Hackle. her son David Hackle, brother John Mathis and a sister Lois Spitzen.   She is survived by a brother Hershell Mathis and a sister Katie Nell Hardiman. Also surviving are  many nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held Sunday, June 12, 2022 at the chapel of Wood Funeral Home, from 5-7 pm. A Funeral Service will be conducted on Monday June 13, 2022 at Cedar street Baptist Church at 1 pm. Burial will be private at a later date. Arrangements by Wood Funeral Home.
