Mr. Mitchell "Mickey" Lanier, 71, of Metter died on May 21, 2019 at Community Hospice in Vidalia. He was a retired deputy from the Candler County Sheriff's Office, having served as the D.A.R.E. Officer for many years, he was also a veteran of the army having served in Vietnam. Mickey was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5893 and the American Legion Post 108 He was a graduate of Metter High School class of 1966. He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Almarita Lee Lanier; brother and sister in law, Bobby ( Evelyn) Lanier and a son in law, Chris Hodges. He is survived by his wife, Faye Lanier of Metter. Son, Scott Lanier of Metter, daughter, Mandy Hodges of Claxton. Brothers, Ray ( Kay) Lanier Sr. and Hillis ( Jean) Lanier both of Atlanta..Grandchildren, Makayla Cook ( Will) Miller, Meredith Cook, Payton Hodges and Paige Hodges . Great granddaughter Hadleigh Knight, several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held on Friday May 24, 2019 at 11am. at Anchor Worship Center with burial to follow in Lake Cemetery with military honors. Visitation will be on Thursday, May 23, 2019 from 5-8pm also at Anchor Worship Center. If desired
