Paul Edwin Bowen Sr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away on December 30, 2024, at Candler County Hospital in Metter, GA after a brief illness, but a long fight with health issues. Paul Edwin Bowen Sr. was born on January 19th, 1948, to the late Julian Foster Bowen and Laura Ruth Zeigler of Statesboro, GA.

Paul loved his wife, Sheila June Mullins, more than anyone would know and celebrated 56 years of marriage in February 2024. He loved his children and made sure he was there for them no matter what. He loved his grandchildren with all his heart and his great-grandchildren. Paul loved his brothers and sisters and was a great friend to many people.

Paul was the owner of Quality Upholstery, then becoming Bowen Upholstery, he had started in the upholstery business when he was 15 years old and gained over 50 years of experience and professionalism. He was a very hard and dedicated worker. Besides working, Paul loved fishing, watching T.V. and spending time with his family.

Paul Edwin Bowen Sr. was loved a lot by many people, and he is going to be missed more than it can even be described.

His son's: Dempsey Lee Mullins of Clintwood, VA. Ronald Allen Mullins (Ronnie) of Savannah, GA. Avis Daniel Mullins (Danny) and his wife Tina Mullins of Glenville, NC. Paul Edwin Bowen Jr. (Lil' Paul) of Balsam Grove, NC. His daughter: Sonja Denise Bowen and partner Jesse Brian Greenway of Portal, GA.

His grandchildren: Gwendolyn Rose O'Shields Phillips and husband George McKinley Phillips. Levi Alaster Dye and Damian Foster Dye of Portal GA. Tonya Butts, D.J. and Faye Mullins, Mandy Mullins Smith of VA. Sheila Mullins, Rebekah and Bryant Mason, Brandon Mullins, and Caleb Mullins of VA. Ronald (Ron) Leigh Mullins of Savannah, GA. Andrew Donnovan Mullins and Brieanna Daniel Mullins of NC. His great-grandchildren: Soren Blake Westbrook and Wolfston Cree Phillips of Portal, GA. His brothers: Julian Edward Bowen and wife Cheryl Bowen of Statesboro, GA. Thomas Harold Bowen and wife Rosalee Bowen of Jacksonville, FL. His sister: Barbara Ann Wales and husband Alfred (Al) Wales of Arab, AL.

In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents: Pharies Everett Bowen and Annie Ophelia Bowen of Pulaski, GA. His maternal grandparents: Norman Zeigler of Screven County, GA and Putnam County, FL. Ellen O. Davis Ziegler Collins Hudson of Guyton, GA and Deland, FL. His brother: Ronald David Bowen of Statesboro, GA. His sisters: Gloria June Bowen Roberts of Statesboro, GA. Laura Jean Bowen of Statesboro, GA. His niece: Donna Marie Roberts of Statesboro, GA. His nephews: WIlliam Wayne Bowen of Statesboro, GA and Johnny Leon Wales of Marshal County, AL. His great-niece: Krystal Nicole Wales of Walton County, GA.

Viewing Services will be held Saturday, January 4th, 2025, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Woods Funeral Home in Metter, GA. Funeral Services will be held Sunday, January 5th, 2025, at Woods Funeral Home in Metter, GA at 3 p.m. followed by burial at Bethlehem Primitive Baptist Church on Westside in Statesboro.
