Mr. Robert J. Smith, 75 of Metter, passed away peacefully on September 22, 2022, at his son's residence in Jesup. Robert was a Military Police Officer in the Vietnam War and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 5893. He loved his family, and family gatherings, that included a good meal. Robert was born on December 13, 1946, to Mr. Robert Oren and Devonda Driggers Smith, in Metter.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, and his loving wife of 50 years, Kathryn Cook Smith. Also, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Howard Murphy, Russell Smith, and Raymond Smith.

Robert is survived by a son Robert (Robbie), (Trina) Smith and a daughter Connie Humphery. Six beautiful grandchildren, five great grandchildren, whom he loved like his own, Devon, Dawson, Daylin, James, Sarah and Ann. Also surviving are a brother Donald Smith and four sisters, Linda Kennedy, Becky Anderson, Grace Durrence and Kay Walsh.

The family will receive friends, Tuesday, September 27, from 11am until 1 pm, at Wood Funeral Home. The funeral will be conducted at 1pm, in The Chapel of Wood Funeral Home. Burial in The Lake Cemetery with Military Honors.
