Obituary

Mr. Robert Denver Stills of Portal died Thursday, October 27, 2022, at his home under the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice. Denver was born April 21, 1941, to Charles and Reba Stills. Denver served as a proud veteran in the United States Army where he was an E-7 Snipper in Special Forces, after being wounded, he received an Honorable Discharge. He continued his career as a truck driver for 41 years, he retired in 2009. Denver enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He was an avid fan of baseball and football.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Reba Stills, his brothers George, Harold, Winston, and Johnny Stills, a son Bruce Johnson, and a son-in-law David Sheffield.

Denver is survived by his wife Ada Stills, his sons Robert and Scott Stills, his daughters Martha (Bobby) Brown, Deborah Sheffield, Sandra (Mark) Johnson. His brothers Roy (Melrose) and Ronnie Stills, a sister Shirley Ray. His grandchildren Robert (Anna) Stills, Megan Stills, Dana (Jeff) Beasley, Dustin (Savannah) Johnson, Nathan (Ashley) Smith, Haley (Dave) Hardy, and Madison (William) Hardiman. Ten great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Saturday, October 29, 2022, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm in the chapel of Wood Funeral Home in Metter Georgia. Funeral services will be Sunday, October 30 at 3:00 pm officiated by Rev. Michael Williams. Interment will be at the Family Cemetery in Portal Georgia.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Brown, Johnny Brown, William Hardiman, Bill Hardiman, Paul Stills, Tucker Stills, and Dylan Stone.
