March 3, 1967 – August 9, 2026
Walter Home Bunch, age 59, of Sardis, Georgia, entered into eternal rest on August 9, 2026.
Walter was a loving father, Papa, brother, uncle, son, and friend to many. He will be deeply missed by all who had the blessing of knowing and loving him.
Walter worked in the timber business for all of his life; He was a hardworking man who took great pride in providing for the people he loved. But more than anything, Walter loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was, without a doubt, the absolute best father there ever was. He made sure each person in his life knew just how much they meant to him.
Walter had a heart and soul of gold. He was always willing to help anyone, even when he had very little himself. His generosity knew no bounds—if Walter had it, you had it. He was also the person so many turned to for advice, always ready to offer his wisdom, encouragement, or simply a helping hand.
Walter Loved Aaron Head Hunting, fishing, hunting, and making things with his hands. He enjoyed the simple moments, especially those spent with his family, and those memories will be treasured forever.
Walter was preceded in death by his parents, Waldo Bunch and Ethel Bunch; his brother; and his girlfriend, Rebecca Bolton Oglesby.
He leaves behind a loving family to cherish his memory, including his children: Rebecca Walker Bunch; Daniel Bunch (Michelle); Danielle Bunch; Tina Bunch (Paul); and Walter Bunch (Cheryl); and twenty grandchildren, who will forever carry the love and memories of their Papa in their hearts.
He is also survived by his siblings: Lucy (Sambo) Bolton; Walden Bunch; Rosa (Frankie) Clarke; Ethel (Billy) Quattlebaum; and Camilla (Johnny Ben) Hammock;
the mother of his children, Santina Lucas; and several nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
Walter’s life was a gift to those who knew him. His love, kindness, hard work, wisdom, and generous spirit will live on through his children, grandchildren, family, and all those whose lives he touched.
Though he is no longer with us, the love he gave so freely will remain forever.
Rest easy, Daddy. You will be missed more than words could ever express.
Pallbearers: Jim Wilkerson, Adam Reed, Damian Washington, Tucker Bunch, Ozzie Merritt, and Neal Bunch.
The funeral will be conducted Sunday August 16, 2026, at 2:30 pm., in the Chapel of Wood Funeral Home. Burial will be at Payne's Chapel United Methodist Church, in Jenkins County.
