Benjamin David Heaton

Benjamin David Heaton 103, passed away on October 29, 2022, at Community Hospice in Vidalia, GA.

Ben was born in Walterboro, SC June 4, 1919. He and his siblings were raised by Epworth Children’s Home in Columbia, SC. He is a member of the “Greatest Generation”. He served in the Army Air Force during WWII and worked for Central of GA Railroad and Derst Baking Company until he retired in 1982. He and his wife Thetis then moved to her family farm in Candler County GA. He actively enjoyed retirement with his cows, large vegetable gardens, fruit trees and even peacocks. They both remained on the farm until their passings.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Emma Thetis Watson Heaton and his siblings Ida Tedder, Susan Smith and George T Heaton.

He is survived by his son W David Heaton and his daughter Donna H McMikle (Stan) and numerous nieces and nephews.

Wood Funeral Home of Metter, GA is in charge of arrangements. It will be a graveside service November 1, 2022, 11 AM at El Bethel Baptist Church, Twin City, GA with Reverend Allen Cason of Metter United Methodist Church officiating.
