Obituary for Bernell (Benny) Small JR.

Mr. Bernell (Benny) Small JR, born February 25, 1964, of Augusta, GA passed away Thursday, February 13, 2025, at Meadows Regional Hospital in Vidalia, GA. Benny was born to the late Mary Anne Small and Bernell Small Sr. His parents and nephew, Bobby Bernell Small JR, preceded him in death. He was survived by his loving wife Patricia Small, who was his world, and his five children Elizabeth Nettles, April Bragg (Kendall), Deloris Miles (Billy Joe), Missy Parrish (Dustin), and Brandi Caddell. As well as his four siblings, Bobby Small Sr. (Cathy), Travis Small, Melissa Rogers (Jay), and Timothy Small (Susan), with several nieces and nephews, eleven grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

Benny worked on heavy equipment with concrete and asphalt with the Sikes brothers for forty dedicated years, then worked with SWW Construction for nine years. When he wasn’t at work, he had a beer in his hand, a cigarette in the other hand, and cracking jokes or lovingly annoying his wife and kids. You could always find him on Friday nights with his fried fish and Saturdays with his low country boils, crawfish and crab legs. He adored his wife Patricia, and he loved to have his family around and take his grandchildren fishing and hunting or anything else that was outside. He loved taking care of his birds, his rose bushes, and his garden. He also loved racing and was looking forward to watching the race in Daytona this Sunday with Kasey Kane, and Kyle Larson.

Benny was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church in Collins GA and was of the Baptist Faith. Anyone who met Benny left with a smile and some new jokes to tell. He will greatly be missed by family, friends, and community.
