Carolyn (Burden) Rigdon

Mrs. Carolyn B. Rigdon, 84, passed from this life on January 10, 2024, at the Ogeechee Area Hospice Inpatient Facility following an extended illness.

A native of and long-time resident of Metter, Carolyn thrived on spending time with her family.  She welcomed all to her home for holiday gatherings over many years.  Her door was always open for simple no-special-occasion visits.  Her home was also a place where grandchildren and great grandchildren enjoyed countless adventures.  They each hold these memories very dear.  As a master seamstress, she created works of art in lovingly hand-stitched quilts that she passed on as cherished family heirlooms.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents Julian and Nannie Burden, seven brothers, and four sisters.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her husband of sixty-seven years, Billy Rigdon, and six children:  Joey (Sandra) of Aline; Randy (Betty) of Register; Lisa Quinones (Luis) of Metter, Mark (Kathy) of Nevils; Matthew (Lisa) of Metter; and Rachel Slater (Rhett) of Powder Springs.  Also, sixteen grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, a dear sister-in-law, Catherine Kessler, and a host of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive visitors at 1:00 on Saturday, January 13 with the service to follow at 2:00 in the Chapel of Woods Funeral Home with Rev. Johnny Beasley officiating.  Interment will be at Rosemary Church Cemetery.  Carolyn was of The Church of God faith.

Grateful to serve as Pall-Bearers are Will Rigdon, Michele Asaro, Luis Quinones, Jr, Daniel Rigdon, Rylan Rigdon, and Rhett Slater, Jr.  Honorary Pall-Bearers include her remaining grandsons, great grandsons, sons-in-law, and grandsons-in-law.
