EDWARD FRANKLIN JOHNSON  1937-2025

Edward Franklin Johnson from Portal, GA passed away on January 5, 2025, at the age of 87 in Augusta, GA.

Edward was born December 18, 1937, to Lee Roy Johnson and Siddie Freeman Johnson. He was one of nine children, and he was the last surviving child of his generation. Edward joined the Army in March of 1954 through February 1973. Edward was also employed by Westinghouse Savannah River Company, and he taught at Augusta Technical School. He married his sweetheart, Carolene Lee, June 8, 1956, in Savannah, GA. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Carolene Lee Johnson and both of his sons Lance Edward Johnson and Raja Lee Johnson. He is survived by his grandchildren Brandi Johnson, Sonya Eller (Miguel), Tiffany Durden (Matthew), and Zachary Johnson (Aubrey), his step grandchildren Joaquin Fuentes, Tabitha Corbin, and Justin Fuentes (Margie), his daughters in law Nancy Johnson and Janis Johnson, his great grandchildren Ethan Eller Jr., Armoni McCoy, Jaiden London, Travis Eller, Luna Garcia, Lexi Durden and Luke Durden, his step great grandchildren Daisy Fuentes (Clayton), Destiny Blackford, Americus McKeon (Chris), Lorenzo Myers, Jacob McKeon, and Leilani Blackford. He also had a whole lot of family members and friends whom he loved very much.

Edward enjoyed spending time with family, playing the guitar, and fishing. He also enjoyed helping others in any way possible. He served in the VFW as well as the American Legion. He was a man who Loved his country and served it well. He was a man of Faith and was very involved with his church, he played the guitar for the worship service. 

His family will hold memorial service, with military honors, will be Saturday, January 11, 2025, at 11:00 am at Aaron Worship Center located in Portal, Georgia.
