Mr. George R. Scott 84, of the Ollifftown community, passed away peacefully June 6, 2024, at his residence, with his loving family at his bedside. George was born October 23, 1939, in Twin City, GA., to Mr. Luther Green and Mrs. Bessie Juanita Davis Scott. He attended Old Canoochee Primitive Baptist Church with his parents as a child, and was a faithful member of Rosemary Primitive Baptist Church, until his health began to fail. His love for his Lord and Savior was evident in all of his endeavors. George was a self-employed truck driver for over thirty years. He dearly loved his family and his church family.
George was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Donna Scott Olliff and four sisters and two brothers. He is survived by his loving wife of forty years Carole Edwards Scott, four sons, Joey (Libby) Scott, Ashley (Robin) Scott, Paul (Lindsey) Scott, David (Alexandra) Sapp and one daughter Trixie (Randy) McGowan, 12 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 4 pm to 6pm Saturday June 8, 2024, at Wood Funeral Home, in Metter. The funeral will be conducted, Sunday June 9, at 2:30 pm., at Old Canoochee Primitive Baptist Church with Elders Sam Bowen, Craig Lanier and Tommy Rountree officiating.
Pallbearers will be, Randy Olliff, Jonathan Olliff, Jacob Scott, Jordy Scott, Justin Bell, Alex McGowan, Bret McGowan.
Wood Funeral Home of Metter is in charge of arrangements.
