Hazel Daniels (Daniels) Phillips

Hazel Daniels Phillips, 84, of Metter, passed away peacefully at Ogeechee Area Hospice of Statesboro on Wednesday, January 11th, 2023. 

Hazel was born May 20th,1938, and resided in Metter most of her life. She was the daughter of the late Henry and Susie Mae Daniels.

Hazel graduated Metter High School and began working for Metter Manufacturing. She then spent the majority of her working years working as a receptionist at Farm Bureau of Metter. Following her career at Farm Bureau, she was the clerk for the Candler County Probate Court where she later retired. Hazel enjoyed spending her time gardening, cooking, sewing, and spending time with her family. Hazel was a devoted daughter, wife, sister, mother, aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother. 

Hazel was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Ferrell Philips and her brother, Franklin Daniels. She is survived by her sister, Francis Wilkes; children, son Randy Phillips of Metter, and daughter Laura Sollie (Ray) of Augusta; grandchildren, Erica Allen (Arthur) of Metter, Crystal Jones of Augusta, Regan Sulpizio (Kyle) of Athens, and Taylor Sollie-Gay (Zach) of Augusta. She is also survived by great-grandchildren; Fallon McCranie (Cody), Delanie O’Brien, Karsen Worley, Hannah Worley, and Colin Worley; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. 

Hazel was known as a little “Georgia Peach” for her classy dress style and contagious smile and will be missed dearly by all who knew her. 

The visitation will be held Saturday, January 14th at 10:00 a.m. at Anchor Worship Center in Metter until the funeral hour. The funeral will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. at the church. Terry Manuel will provide the eulogy and Rev. Jesse Goodman will preside over the service.
