Herman L. Patterson

Herman L. Patterson, 80 of Metter, passed away Saturday, June 6, 2020 at Candler Hospital in Savannah. He was born February 18, 1940 in Candler County, GA to Eleazer and Laurie Patterson. He enjoyed playing football for the Metter High School Tigers and continued his education at Savannah State University, where he received his MBA. On July 1, 1980, he married Juanita.  Herman retired from Union Camp/International Paper after 40 years as their Planning Engineer. He was also self-employed in farming timber in Candler, County.  He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters and one brother.  He is survived by one son, Brian Patterson; four daughters, Kathy (Ed) Griffen, Anita Weitala, Melanie (Gus) Martinez, Donna (Troy) Oliver; ten grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2020 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Wood's Funeral Home. The family will receive visitors on Saturday from 1 p.m. until the start of service.  Covid-19 social distancing will be observed.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Luekemia Lymphoma Society at donate.lls.org.  Monetary donations may also be sent to Metter Animal Haven.
