Mr. James Allen Thain, 51, of Lyons, passed away Sunday, September 13th, 2020, after a long illness. Allen went to school in Metter until he moved to Vidalia in 1975. He finished school at Toombs Central. Following school, he was a contractor before joining the union and working for Robex where he excelled as a Millwright and traveled with them throughout the United States. He loved fishing, woodworking, music, and most of all, traveling. He was preceded in death by his father, Jerry Cleghorn, his maternal grandparents, Homer C. and Pearl V. Brown; his paternal grandparents, James Bennie and Mary Erma Thain, several uncles, aunts, and cousins.
Allen is survived by his mother, Kathryn Cleghorn of Santa Claus, Georgia, two sisters, Sonya Szot and husband, Jason, of Pensacola, Florida, and Stephanie ‘Skipper’ Adams and husband, Shannon, of Lyons, Georgia. Nieces- Madison, Skyler, and Riley Adams, all of Lyons, Georgia. Nephews- Blake Ogletree of Cedar Crossing, Georgia, and Chance Szot of Pensacola, Florida. His furry friends, Lucy Bell, C.J. and Fred, his bird. All of these he loved very much. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 19th, 2020 at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Wood Funeral Home located in Metter, Georgia, with Rev. Ricky Wilson officiating with burial to follow at Lake Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the hour of service. Pallbearers will be Richard Goodman, Logan Goodman, Luke Goodman, Albert Cosnahan and Jake Wynn. All CDC Covid-19 requirements will be followed.
