Jean M. Culbertson was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She left this earthly
home on March 11, 2022 after an extended illness. She was 85.
She was born to Andrew ( Doc) and Frellie Marsh on Janurary 8, 1937. After graduation from Metter High School, Jean chased her dream to live in a big city( Jacksonville, FL. ) where she worked with Southern Bell Telephone Company and met her husband Wayne Culbertson. They celebrated 66 years of marriage and had 3 children; Mitchell, Jerry, and Terry.
After having children, Jean and Wayne moved back to Metter to raise their family in a small community setting. Jean was a homemaker until the children started school and then she became an aide for the school to have the same schedule as the children
. Later, she went to work for the tax Commissioner's office with Dot and C.B. Jones. She retired from there many years later and then came to the house to be with Wayne. They traveled for many years.
Her favorite trips were to the mountains to “ pan for gold”.
Jean was a Member of Metter Frist Baptist Church. She was a faithful member until her sickness
caused her to be homebound.
She is preceded in death by her father Doc Marsh, her mother Frellie Marsh, her sister Bernice Turner and a great grandson Marcus Culbertson.
She leaves behind a loving husband Wayne Culbertson, son Mitchell ( Darlene) Culbertson and
Jerry ( Kathy) Culbertson, a daughter Terry Culbertson, brother William Marsh, grandchildren
Brandon Culbertson, Mitchell Culbertson, Anessa Culbertson and Josh Culbertson. Seven great
grandchildren, nephews Richard and Phillip Turner and niece Cynthia Turner.
Jean was also blessed with an extended family that was composed of love ones that seemed like her
own sons, daughters and grandchildren that could not have been any better to their own parents as they
had been to Jean over the years. They would see after Jean and help out in anyway possible and for that the family says thank you to the Tylers, Hicks and Deals.
A graveside service has been scheduled for Jean on March 14, 2022 in the Pine Grove Baptist Church
Cemetery at 3pm with Pastor Greg Ely conducting the service. Pallbearers are Tyler Deal, Chris Deal, Blake Hicks, Allen Tyler, Ben Parker and Logan Espinoza.
A special thanks to the Ogeechee Area Hospice of Statesboro nurses and her caregivers Kris Hollenbach and Madelyn Walker who took such good care of Jean and the family in their time of
need. The care given to our loved one went above and beyond the call of duty.
