Jean Douglas Obituary

Mrs. Jean Grubbs Douglas, 89, of Metter died on Tuesday at her home. Mrs. Douglas was a homemaker, was an excellent seamstress, loved all sorts of crafts and took pride in her beautiful yards. She was an excellent cook for her family and friends. She was an active member of First Baptist Church and will be remembered for her work with all ages. She was a past “ Homemaker of the Year”. She was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Grayson C. Douglas, her parents, Vera Brookins Grubbs and Akins Grubbs. Her beloved step father, William Crosby and her sister Hazel Collins. She is survived by her son Gary Clark ( Cherry) Douglas of Richmond Hill. Daughter Gail Douglas Charles of Metter. Grandchildren, Larry ( Melanie) Charles, Wesley ( Allison) Charles, Matthew ( Kortney) Douglas and Kristin Douglas. G G's special great grandchildren, Ashton, Brenden, Addilyn, Hannah, Rebekah, Grayson Charles and Abigail Douglas. After 11 years of near blindness our GG now can see and join our Gda in heaven after being apart for five months.

Funeral service will be held on Friday, Nov. 23, 2018 at 2pm. in the First Baptist Church with Rev. Tom Osborne officiating. Burial to follow in Lake Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1pm. until the hour of the service. Pallbearers will be Larry Charles, Wes Charles, Matthew Douglas, Wayne Collins, David Rhoney and Charles Rizer. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Naomi/ Ester Sunday School Class. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Sunshine House, P.O. Box 617 Swainsboro, GA. 30401 or to First Baptist Church P.O.
