Obituary

Jerry Faye Johnson, age 72, went home to be with his Lord & Savior on December 1st, 2021. He was born to the late Martha Donaldson Johnson and Billy Fern Johnson of Twin City, GA. He was the middle son of 3 boys.

Jerry met the love of his life, Wanda Sue Collins, better known as “Suzy Q”, in school at good ole E.C.I. they were high school sweethearts and graduated school together. They were married on October 5th, 1967.

After graduation, Jerry entered the National Guard Army, where he served 10+ years. He served for 2 years on the Emanuel County Board of Education. He began his work career at Automatic Sprinkler and then several years at Carlee Grocery. Then become a truck driver at BH transfer, Brown, Five Transport, Consolidated Freightways, & finally retired from Roadway. He drove a truck for 35+ years. He loved his job.

Jerry never met a stranger. He would help anyone and never ask for anything in return. Jerry started the Hispanic Ministry in Stillmore. A lot of Hispanic men and women were led to Christ at the church. Jerry was a Deacon at Stillmore Missionary Baptist Church for 30+ years, the church treasurer, Sunday School Superintendent, and teacher. He loved to help any church that need help in anyway. He made sure before he passed that the little Scarboro Baptist Church had a full-time preacher. He loved the little ladies of Scarboro Baptist Church and love to help the little country church that had become home to him & Sue.

After that church services, Jerry & Sue would go to the next church home, Mt. Shady Baptist Church. Jerry & Sue met many of brother & sisters in Christ at Mt. Shady. Jerry always felt at home there. Jerry’s favorite past time was watching a ballgame, no matter where it was but his favorite was E.C.I. He loved his ole home school. Jerry loved the river & fishing was in his blood. Many good times have been had at the river with family and friends. His favorite hobby was hauling hay and farming with his son Jeremy Johnson.
