The Lord called home one of his faithful, Jerry Padgett, (76) of Portal Georgia Wednesday, February 22nd, 2023. Jerry was born June 15th, 1946, to Grady and Louise. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend will be dearly missed.
Jerry shared the past seventeen years of his life with his beloved wife Wanda. Together they lived for each other and lived for God. Jerry was a man of faith and was loved by all of his family in Christ; a devout Christian who attended Aaron’s Worship Center in Portal.
Whenever anyone needed help, Jerry was there to lend a hand if he could. He spent many days helping his sons with their businesses. He also helped with the building of the Aaron Worship Center.
Jerry liked to do many things and lived life to the fullest. He loved to fish and enjoyed lawn care. He was always eager to load up his lawn mower and cut grass for his friends and loved ones. Many weekends were cherished spending time fishing with his sons and grandsons as well as friends either along the coast or the nearest lake. He was known for his humor and had a hankering for picking on everyone he loved.
Jerry is survived by his wife Wanda Padgett of seventeen years, sons; Scott (Renea), Matt (Tammi) and Jeremy (Danielle) all of Cobbtown, his daughters; Terri Hayes of Cobbtown, Stacy Shinhoster (Joe) of Uvalda, Stepchildren; Jeffrey Grimes (Shelia) from Maryland, Jonathan Collins (Dena) from Canton Ga and Jennifer Green (Keith) from Juneau Alaska.
He is also survived by his brothers Grady Padgett, Jr. (Margie) of Cobbtown and Jesse Padgett (Laverne) of Augusta, sisters in law Diane Padgett of Aline and Rebbie Padgett of Augusta. He is preceded in death by his brothers Robert and Johnny Padgett.
Jerry was blessed with 18 grandkids, 16 great-grands with 3 great grands on the way.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the wonderful staff at Ogeechee Area Hospice, in Statesboro, for their loving care and support during his final days.
There will be a viewing at Wood Funeral Home, in Metter, Sunday, February 26, 2023, from 2:00pm to 4:00pm
