John Edward Mathis

Mr. John E. Mathis, 78, of Metter died at his residence on Friday Jan. 15, 2021 under the care of

Ogeechee Area Hospice. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jacqueline Bland Mathis, parents,

Willie and Katie Fortner Mathis and sons Johnny Mathis, Terry Baker and Keith Baker. He is survived by son, Steve Baker. Daughters Angela “Angel” Hernandez, Kim Margavich, Kathy Baker and Belinda Williams. Sisters, Clara Mae Hackle and Katie Nell Hardiman. Twenty six grandchildren

and numerous great grandchildren. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, Jan.20, 2021 at

2pm in the chapel of Wood funeral Home with Rev. Bo Fulginiti  officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:30pm. until the hour of the service. Burial will be at Highland Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Ahoskie, N.C.  Following  a 2pm graveside service on Jan. 22, 2021... Arrangements by Wood Funeral Home of Metter.
