Kathy Elizabeth Rooks Thomas, 67, went to meet her Lord and Savior, Thursday, July 14, 2022. She was born, December 10, 1954, to Grace Pearl Patterson Rooks and Aubrey Cecil Rooks, in Carrollton.
Kathy spent her life praising and rejoicing the Lord. When she was younger, she enjoyed singing and playing the piano with her family. She later joined the chorus at church and school. Her love of music continued throughout her life. As a young adult, she and her sisters traveled with the Evangelites, singing and playing gospel music across Georgia and Alabama. Kathy later moved to Metter and worked for the local radio station, WHCG, the Boomer, RadioJones, LLC, for nearly twenty years. She attended Restoration Worship Center where she shared her love of praising the Lord through song and piano-playing.
She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings Betty Sue Rooks Huckeba and Tony Rooks and sons David Jackson (DJ) Dukes and Jonathan Allen Dukes.
She is survived by her brother, Hershel Barry Rooks (Mary Ann), of Jasper, sister, Linda Diane Rooks Rigsby (Garry) of Atlanta, children, Kristi Dukes Thomas (Wayne) of Cobbtown, Joshua Aaron Dukes (Nycole) of Carrollton, grandchildren Terrence Carter of Rome, Samantha Hallman (Ricky) of Cedartown, Stephanie Eason (Joshua) of Rincon, David, Savannah, and Sadie Dukes of Easley, SC, David L. W. Dukes of Metter, Payton and Ashlynn Dukes of Carrollton, several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Metter and Carrollton memorial services will be announced at a later date.
