Mr. Larry (Shep) Sheppard Sr, 68 of Ludowici, GA, slipped peacefully into the loving arms of Jesus, Monday afternoon November 14, 2022, under the care of Hospice of South GA and his daughter in law Elizabeth.
Mr. Larry was born on February 24, 1954, in Metter, GA to Theodore and Myrtice Sheppard. At an early age Shep followed into his father’s footsteps as an automotive mechanic and later in life as a carpenter. He was employed with Stewart/Brannen Millwork until his health forced an early retirement. Larry was avid lover of car racing, LSU Football, fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren and family. Larry was predeceased by his loving wife Marcia after 26 years of marriage. His parents also preceded him in death as well as two sisters and several brother in laws.
He is survived by his two sons, Larry (Blue) Sheppard II (Elizabeth) and Dusty (Duck) Sheppard (Brittany), sisters Jackie, Dale, Peggy, Betty, Carol, and Bonnie. Grandchildren Shane, Chance, Casey, Anslee, Summer, Lawson, and Karsen. Many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Friday November 18, 2022, at Wood Funeral Home. The funeral will follow Saturday November 19, 2022, at 11:00 AM. Burial afterwards at Evergreen Cemetery with Michael Williams and Lawrence Jarriel officiating.
Pallbearers will be Garrod Collins, Jason Fondren, Danny Fordham, Travis Williams, Shannon Williams, Josh Williams, Caine Williams.
Honorary Pallbearers will be his grandchildren and employees of Stewart/Brannen Millworks.
Wood Funeral Home of Metter is in charge of arrangements.
