Lewis Edward “Eddie” Burnett, age 84, passed away on March 24th, surrounded by the love of his family after a courageous battle with lung cancer.
Eddie was born on May 14, 1941, in Union, South Carolina. He later made his home in Metter, Georgia, where he built a life centered on hard work, devotion, and family. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy before beginning a lifelong career as a painter alongside his beloved wife, Shelia Burnett. Together, they not only built a business, but a partnership rooted in love and dedication.
Eddie was a man with a heart of gold. He could be stubborn at times, but that same strong will was part of what made him such a steady and dependable presence for those who loved him. Above all else, Eddie cherished his family. His greatest joy came from spending time with his children and grandbabies, creating memories that will be treasured forever.
He is survived by his loving wife, Shelia Burnett; his daughters, Donna Aldrich (Craig Aldrich) and Darlene Martin (Rick Martin); his beloved grandchildren: Brittany Williams (Joshua Williams), Macy Criswell (Ryan Criswell), Austin Martin (Allie Lightsey), and Cody Aldrich; and his cherished great grandchildren: Jaxon and Boone Williams, and Marlie and Glavine Criswell. Each of them carries a piece of his spirit and the deep love he gave so freely.
Eddie found peace and pride in the simple things in life. Whether he was out in the yard keeping everything just right or gathered with his family, those were the moments that meant the most to him. He also loved his western movies and watching NASCAR on Sundays.
Though he is no longer with us, Eddie’s legacy of love, strength, and devotion will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
The family will receive friends Friday morning March 27, 2026, beginning at 10 am until 12 pm, at the Funeral Home. a Graveside service will be conducted, at 2pm at The Lake Cemetery.
