MYRTLE BLAND WALLACE Obituary

 

Myrtle Bland Wallace passed into eternal rest in her home on August 13, 2015 after a brief illness. She was surrounded by her family and friends. She was 82 years young, born in Bulloch County and lived in Statesboro most of her life. She was a Christian and a member of Eastern Heights Baptist Church.

 

She was the daughter of the late Frank B. Bland and Annie Wright Bland. She was preceded in death by brothers: Willie Bland, Frank B. Bland, Jr. and sisters: Ruth West, Ruby Quilon and Mary Peeples. She is survived by a sister Ann Dixon of Savannah, Ga.

As the devoted wife of Thomas Cecil Wallace (deceased) for over 50 years, she was the loving and caring mother of three children: Deborah Wallace of Statesboro, Ga., Thomas Cecil Wallace, Jr. of Belton, S.C. and Daniel Jason Wallace (Susan) of Salt Lake City, Utah. She influenced the lives of her children, grandchildren (Amanda Cleath, Matthew Figg; Kristen & Rebecca Wallace; Thomas, Kathryn, Simeon, Elizabeth, Mary Lois and Sarah Wallace) and great- grandchildren through encouragement of reading, gaining of knowledge through education and obtaining wisdom by studying the Bible. She taught the girls how to be ladies and the boys how to be leaders. Throughout her life, she enjoyed cooking, gardening, art, sewing and the hosting of family and friends (Chris Patray, Coleen Boole, Sosama Lindsey, Lynette Edenfield, Jim Smith, Buddy Johnson and many others).

 

Interment and services will be on Monday, August 17, 2015, in Bulloch Memorial Gardens at 10:30 AM. Wood Funeral Home of Metter, Ga. is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Christ Presbyterian Church; 3824 Claudia Street; West Valley City, Utah 84120.
