Paul “Preacher” Parrish was born in Slyvester Ga to the late James and Erzula Parrish on April 20,1952. He’s lived his life in Metter for the past 31 years and entered eternal rest July 2, 2023, after battling illnesses.
Preacher was of Baptist faith and took kindly to Excelsior Baptist Church where his wife has attended for years.
He lived his life one day at a time and was known as a man of his word. He loved his family and friends dearly and would be there at any given time to lend a hand to any in need. He was such a great man, husband, father, son, brother and friend.
He loved spending time with his family and had a strong bond with his grandchildren who he loved dearly, loved his precious dogs that wouldn’t leave his side, lawn care, fishing, and wood working. He had a passion and knowledge of farming and learned many things with horses.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Paul J. Parrish, his brothers Bobby "Shot” Parrish, Walter “Rat” Parrish, Billy Parrish and his sister Lillie Aycock.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years Laura Parrish, his children; Renea Parrish (Scott)of Cobbtown, April Thrift (Will)Of Cobbtown, Paul Parrish Jr. (Mikayla)of Dothan Alabama. Grandchildren; Lauren Thrift, Brenda Parrish, James Parrish, William Thrift, Baylee Thrift, Ethan Padgett, Kohen Parrish and Lexi Parrish; Sisters Mary Lee Peters of Sylvester and Minnie Smith of Poulan.
The family thanks Affinis Home Health and Solace Hospice for the care they provided, Excelsior Baptist Church, and a special thanks to Michael and Brianna Odom.
Visitation will be held Thursday July 6 from 6pm-8pm at Wood Funeral Home Chapel.
