Robert Lamar Banks

On July 16th 2019 at 8:30am, Robert Lamar Banks peacefully departed this earth from his hospital bed at East Georgia Regional Medical Center of Statesboro, GA with his last living brother Willie Hugh Shubert by his side.

 

Robert was born February 5th, 1952 in Waynesboro, GA to the parents of Lula Mae Banks and George Ward. Robert obtained his education in the Metter, GA school system and later joined Job Corps where he met his wife of 8yrs Carol Valentine in Knoxville, TN. God blessed this union with one child, Cassandra (Sandy).

 

Robert had a passion for cooking while living in Knoxville, TN he was the head chef at Morrison’s Restaurant. After moving back to Metter, he held several jobs with his last one being McDonald’s.

 

Robert is survived by his daughter Cassandra(Roger) Warren of Greensboro, NC and brother Willie (Leacha) Shubert of Swainsboro, GA. Three grandchildren Terharen, Trinity and Jayden Warren. Special nieces and nephews Ashley, Willie Jr., Dallas, and William Shubert. Great nieces and nephews Leland, Elijah, Ashton, Nylah, Londyn, and Amari Shubert. Special cousins Earl and Joe Smith, Ruth Ann Newton, Ola Mae Smith, and Debbie Taylor.

 

Robert is preceded in death by brother Bobby Lee Banks, mother Lula Mae Banks, and Father George Ward.

 

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday July 20th, 2019 at 12pm in the chapel of Wood Funeral Home receiving friends at 11am.
