Ronald J McNeely of Metter, passed away Friday morning February 2, 2024, at St Joseph's Hospital after a brief illness.
Ronald was born July 2, 1944, in Metter at the McNeely family farm and was a son of H.J. McNeely "Junior" and Sarah McNeely. He graduated from Metter High School in 1962. Shortly after graduating, he went to the United States Air Force where he served most of his time overseas in Turkey during the Vietnam War. After service, he worked at Thriftway where he was a meat cutter with Joe Coursey. He was a salesman for TJ Morris for many years and then went to work for Stewart Distribution until he retired at the age of 74. He had a love of fishing anywhere there was water and loved watching the Atlanta Braves and Georgia Bulldogs. He was the best cook which he got from his mother Sarah. Ronald loved the Lord and he loved his family.
Ronald was preceded in death by his parents HJ McNeely and Sarah McNeely. Surviving are his wife Patricia McNeely; his daughters Mitzie (Chad) Padgett, Gina (Philip) Hansford, Lisa (Ken) Parker, 6 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be conducted on Monday, February 5, 2024, at 2 P.M.. in the chapel of Wood Funeral Home, with Reverend Johnny Beasley officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 1 P.M.. until the hour of the service.
