Sandra Faye (Covington) Brown

Sandra Faye Brown, age 71 passed away on Tuesday, August 29, 2023, at her home. She was a beloved Mother, Grandmother (MeMa), sister, and Aunt. Faye was born in Candler County to J.W. and Nellie Mae Covington. Growing up she was a shy young girl who loved to read, being outdoors and daydreaming.

In 1970, Faye married Robert Petty and had two wonderful sons she loved to the moon. On August 14, 1992, she married the love of her life, her late husband Clyde Brown (her truck driver). They later made their home in Sylvania, Georgia where she resided for 25 years until her death.

Faye was best known and loved by many for her years working as a server at the old Franklin's restaurant in Statesboro, Georgia where she worked for over twenty years.

She is predeceased by her husband, parents, grandson Justin Petty, and siblings Mary Nell, Douglas, Net, Sue, Betty, Pat, Jessie, and Danny.

She is survived by her sons and daughter-in-laws Robert and Amy Petty of Millen, Georgia and Wallace (Jerome) and Karen Petty of Statesboro, Georgia. Grandchildren Olivia Petty, Heather Petty, and Bryant Petty. Great Grandchildren Ella Petty and Emma Petty. Siblings Dempsey (Iola) Covington, Shelby (Rodney) Nubern, Jimmy (Brenda) Covington, Ricky (Susan) Covington, and Carol (Bernard) Boyd and dozens of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 2, 2023, at 2pm in the chapel of Wood Funeral Home with burial to follow in Lake Cemetery in Metter. The family will receive friends from 1pm until the hour of the service. Arrangements by Wood Funeral Home of Metter.
