Thomas John Mitch

Thomas John Mitch “ Tinker Tom”, 79 of Portal, passed away peacefully March 30, 2026, at East Georgia Regional Medical Center, in Statesboro. Tom was born April 18, 1946, in Rochester, New York, to Mr. Nicholas John and Mrs. Angeline Luciano Mitch. Tom was loved and known throughout his hometown of Portal as “Tinker Tom”. He enjoyed wood working, remodeling and anything construction related, and loved telling war stories, to anyone who would listen. Tom was a loving husband, father and grandfather, whom loved his family fiercely.

“Tinker Tom' was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Janet Lynn Williams Mitch, two sons Oscar J., Christopher L. Titus and a daughter Angeline Marie Mitch. Also surviving are three precious grandchildren and a sister Janet Eckman.

The family will host a private Celebration of life, at a later date.
